Freelance Animators, 2D & 3D Artists, Illustrators & all creatives

Welcome to Animator Artist Life.  free lessons, resources, advice and a community for freelance animators, 2d & 3D artists, illustrators and creatives.

What's it all about?

After 14 years in the industry as an Animator / 3D Artist / Motion designer, I started a YouTube channel as a break from client work to create free tutorials for anyone inspiring to get into getting into the industry.

I work as a generalist with a specialism in character animation.  As a generalist and studio owner, I must be able to take a project from storyboard to completion.

This involves a wide variety of skills from graphic design, 2D motion design, 3D modelling, rigging and a range of animation skills.   This is what Animator Artist Life is based on. Not just one skill or single software, but a wide range of creative skills you need to help win employment in a real animation studio.

When I posted my first tutorials to YouTube and received messages of thanks and comments saying how they have helped, it felt great! I found it really rewarding.

It was then I thought it would be great to build a community of budding artists, designers, illustrators and animators to share, help and learn from each other.

I have since started a fast-growing private Facebook group to be able to communicate with members. You can join here:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/animatorartistlife
